Our Custom Process & FAQ

Le Papier Studio specializes in illustrating unique custom silhouettes. We work with you to design and illustrate the people, pets, and special moments in your life using your photographs. In addition to our custom silhouettes, we have several lines of charming existing graphic illustrations and silhouettes to choose from.

The Process

Any object, from people, pets to flora can be made into a silhouette, but only the most elegant lines and shapes inspire interest. We offer a one-time fee for each custom silhouette we create. All custom silhouettes will be kept on file for any of your future use. There is no limitation as to how we can integrate your silhouettes. From personalized large format prints, notecard sets, jewelry, home accessories such as throw silhouette pillows, logos and identities, we would love the opportunity to transform the apples of your eye into artistic heirlooms.

How to Order

If you would like us to personalize any of our product with a custom silhouette utilizing your photographs, select the Custom option when placing your order. You will be charge a one-time fee ($10 per each Custom silhouette we create). Please note: each person, pet, makes for one Custom silhouette - a family of four (dad, mom, two kids, will require four silhouettes). Keep this is mind when selecting the quantity of Custom silhouettes.

Once you have completed the order, please e-mail us your pictures electronically at orders@lepapierstudio.com. Your order number should appear on the subject line of your e-mail. An electronic proof will be sent via e-mail in 3-5 business days. Please make any desired adjustments at this time. A final proof will be sent and once it is approved, we will begin to process and ship your order. Please allow 2-3 weeks for all custom orders to arrive. We do offer a rush service. *During busy season, it might take up to one week for us to email you a proof. If you need to receive it sooner, please do let us know right after placing the order.

Photo Tips for Perfect Silhouettes

Here are some tips for taking picture of your loved one that will set the stage for creating the most elegant keepsake silhouettes.

• Place the subject in front of a well lit background, facing either left or right.


• A relaxed face helps to show the features (eyelashes, nose, lips) correctly.


• If photographing more than one person, please take individual pictures.


• Take the picture straight on at eye level. For best results, stand six feet away from the subject.


• If your subject has long hair (past their neckline) put it up. Ponytails, braids, messy buns, make for cute silhouettes.


• If you are interested in full body silhouettes, take a picture of the subject standing up, walking towards or away from the camera (these make great silhouettes for out forest theme illustration prints

FAQ

What type of pictures should I send?

We recommend you sending pictures that reflect your everyday style. For gifts like throw pillows, cufflinks, jewelry, face profile pictures will create the most beautiful silhouettes.

I have a lot of pictures but don't know which ones to send...

If you can't decide which pictures to email or need some help selecting the best ones, please feel free to include extra pictures. We would be happy to look through them and pick the one we feel best describes the subject.

How do I determine how many Custom silhouettes to purchase?

If you have one child, pet, etc, you need to purchase 1 Custom silhouette. For a family of four (dad, mom and two kids) you would need to purchase 4 Custom silhouettes. Each subject requires its own custom silhouette to be drawn.

Will I receive a proof?

All custom orders (such as Custom silhouette, birthday invitations, announcements, etc) receive one electronic proof within 3-5 business days of placing the order. If more than one proof is requested, an additional charge will apply to the order (you will be billed separately). After the final proof has been approved, please allow 1-3 business days for production and shipping. All custom orders will arrive in approximate 2-3 weeks.

Will I be charged sales tax?

All orders shipped in Illinois are charged a 10% sales tax. That is because we have a physical residence in Illinois. We do not charge sales tax to orders shipped in other states.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept payments via Pay Pal, American Express, Master Card, Visa, Discover and e-check. At this point, we do not accept personal checks, cash or money order.

 

I purchased a gift certificate from your store. How long do I have before it expires?

Our gift certificates don't have an expiration date. However they are subject to a 10% "inactity fee" if they haven't been used for the past 12 months.

What is your return policy?

Because everything we offer is custom, we do not accept returns. If there is anything wrong with your order due to a mistake in our part, we will ship you a corrected replacement. However, we must to be notified of the issue within 5 days of receiving the item.

Can I track my order?

Once you have placed an order, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. An e-mail will also be sent with shipping details once your order has shipped.

Colors and Product Information

Le Papier Studio makes every attempt to accurately display all colors shown in this website. However, colors may very slightly due to the variation on the monitor they are viewed on.

Gift Wrapping

We would be happy to gift wrap your product. The picture shown on our website is only an example - colors of gift wrapping can change with seasons as well as if your product is shipped directly from our manufacturer.
