Cassie Hayes is the winner of this giveaway! Congratulations, Cassie!
I love me a great party! But honestly, thinking of planning one all on my own makes me so anxious, I almost want to forget the whole thing. Well, that’s almost true! Thanks to one talented lady, let’s say I don’t have to struggle. I am referring to Kelly Lyden, the author of Stylish Kids’ Parties and a good friend on mine whom I’ve gotten to work with in several occasions (such as John’s 1st Birthday Party). Kelly is the owner of the social stationery company WH Hostess and the editor of the lifestyle and entertaining blog, The Party Dress.
I’ve anticipated Kelly’s book launch for some time now. It comes handy as I start planning John’s 2nd birthday party in just a few weeks. Something you might not know is that John is featured on one of the 12 parties in this book, the Little Man Mustache Bash, to be exact.
Little Man Mustache Bash 1st Birthday
Color Palette: Lite Blue, Teal, Moss Green and Brown
Patterns: Stripes, Gingham Check
Design Elements: Mustaches, Bowties
Every little boy has affectionately been referred to as a cute “little man” at least once in his first year. So why not plan a first birthday celebration around that theme?! Mix together design elements including mustaches and bow ties, with classic haberdashery patterns such as gingham check and stripes for a classic, handsome party.
First birthday celebrations come in many different forms. You can throw a large party on the weekend with 50 friends and family members; a full-blown event with all the trimmings. Or you can plan an intimate gathering for just your closest family on a weeknight; a sweet celebration with just a few special touches. This chapter shares ideas for crafting a unique celebration – whether big or small. Focused on a bright color palette and a few sweet details, the color combination of green, orange, teal and brown looks fresh and modern against the white décor of the party space. By focusing on a couple key ideas, you are able to make the space look festive without too much time or money. From a do-it-yourself banner, to a unique napkin fold for the dinner table, and a few sweet details, this chapter shows you how to create a party focused on the man of the hour…. the birthday boy!
One of my favorite parts of this chapter are the tips for the iconic 1st birthday cake smash. From how to set-up the area for the perfect photo opp, to ways to engage your child in the activity, Kelly shares her tips for making it an event to remember!
(some more photos of John, not featured in the book but just as fun! This boy had a ball! Hard to believe he was only 9 months old than!) Photos by Kelly Lyden.
